Orinoco Mini Pci Wireless Driver. Download Fasters카테고리 없음 2020. 2. 29. 17:13
I'm adding/testing some Linksys wireless products to an existing LAN and thus far everything is working except the VPN connection to another site.VPN (AT&T Global Client) on a laptop works fine if using the wired LAN & PCMCIA card. DSL modem/firewall is a Speedstream 5660, firmware 2.3.0(6). Been running on this OK over 6 months.Just added a Linksys WAP11 (V2.2) (Firmware 1.01c).Laptop is running WIN2K(SP2).
Wireless card is Orinoco Gold, Client drivers just downloaded from Orinoco - V7.42. Don't have wireless card firmware rev.128 bit WEP enabled.Laptop (wireless) connects to the AP ok and I can browse the internet just fine. VPN to company has not started as yet.
When VPN client is started, it gets back to the VPN server, starts the authentication process, does some handshaking but hangs when attempting to exchange keys.Updated Info:Connected laptop to new WET11 (V1.3.1) - same results. VPN will still not connect over wireless link.Turned off WEP, VPN connects.Looks like a problem within the WAP11 to start with!TIA - Jim (MI)text was edited by author 2002-09-26 10:37:46. Linksys is still ironing out the firmware of WAP11 v2.2.
When using 1.009 firmware with WEP, the wireless end would often stop responding (could still access web config by wire) unless the WAP11 was set for 2 mbps max speed. I only tried 1.01c briefly which appeared to solve that problem, but it would not work if SSID broadcast was disabled and some people still mentioned it going to sleep. You might try kicking it back to 2 mbps max and see if you still have the problem. Should still be fast enough unless your DSL is faster than that.1.01g beta seems to work fine for me except for one little oversite. Settings cannot be changed on the first page after login (IP, channel, WEP, etc.) because the Apply button does not work on that page (Settings can be changed with Windows utility). Also some people still have trouble disabling SSID broadcast, but it works for me with an SMC 2632W wireless pc card in Linux.
Hopefully they will eventually release an update that fixes all the problems.I have not tried wireless VPN, but do often use ssh which is encrypted and compressed. I just installed a new BEFW11S4 ver.2 last week for a client, and had the same issue. The client would begin phase 2 authentication, and hang (wireless only). All worked well when wired to Ethernet on the AP.
I tried everything, and nothing worked. It would always drop on Phase 2.Checked Linksys site for firmware updates, and item 14 out of 15 said ' Changed Ipsec pass-through function over a wireless connection.' .I installed the new firmware, and instantly the VPN clients could connect. Using this with 2 laptops, each with different VPN clients ( 1- Cisco, 1-SonicWall), 2 different VPN's, and both now work flawlessly.Sounds like you have the same issue. Ironic thing is I have a WAP11 ver.1, and VPN works fine- go figure. Don't know if this has been addressed in the 1.01G firmware for the WAP11 2.2.
Re: Linksys Support -1) They implied they were aware of users reporting problems with wireless VPN's,2) Offered the firmware update as the next stepTheir incident tracking is lacking. I also find their web site lacking. While it is possible to download firmware updates and documentation, the knowledge base is near worthless. They clearly need some assistance in that area.Their Tech Support via email was also a disappointment. I forwarded ALL the information (in fact more) that was posted earlier, including firmware rev's, OS's, etc.
Here's the response I received:May I know the exact setup of your entire network? May I know the number of computers you're using and how and where they are connected?
How many WET11s are you using? Where is the modem connected to? What are the components that are connected to the WAP11? What is your operating system? Is your ISP functioning as a DHCP? Are you using a router?I thought a reasonable problem description with supporting technical details had been provided? At least they didn't ask what color car I drive or if my house faces North or South!More work to do here to get this resolved.
I purchased a Linksys BEFWS114 ver 2 router/switch and a WPC11 wireless card last week - everything went like a breeze till I tried connecting via my AT&T Net Client which uses 'Managed VPN - IPSec Dual Access'. The wireless connection had been working great till then. The AT&T client was able to login and connect and I worked for around 5-10 minutes before my laptop just froze. The VPN connection was lost, and the standard wireless connection stopped working too. This happened 2-3 times before I called Tech Support and was told that 'IPSec passthrough works ONLY on the ethernet, and not on the wireless network!!!' - I said that all the documentation/spec sheet etc never mentions this but he was very confident that IPSec is not supported over wireless and expressed surprise that I was even able to login via the VPN client.
I did not believe him, but I returned the products the next day and have been browsing wireless forums to find out that if that is true - sure enough it is not - like mentioned, the firmware upgrade list mentioned that IPsec passthrough was changed over a wireless connection. Linksys Tech Support people should be fired if they don't have basic information like this! Said by.snip. Linksys Tech Support people should be fired if they don't have basic information like this! Can you provide a reference/link to the firmware upgrade list that mentioned IPsec passthrough? I'd like to track it down. He's referring to the BEFWS114 ver 2 ( like I was in my previous post), not the WAP11 that you have.I've just installed a 2nd BEFWS114 ver 2 this weekend for someone, again with VPN client software, and upgrading the firmware as I posted previously fixed it instantly.Again, this is obviously a Linksys firmware issue, and they are denying it.
Why can they make it work on the BEFWS114 and not the WAP11??I've seen so many other posts in other forums about this too, and have heard so much B.S. Reported from Linksys tech support- yes, they obviously are clueless. I've seen 'VPN's don't work over wireless'; 'IPSec can't work with WEP enabled', blah, blah, blah. Again, Linksys's right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.I've been using a WAP11 ver.1 for over a year, and it has ALWAYS worked with the VPN client software!! So, what did they change?? Why can they fix the problem on the BEFWS114 ver 2, and not the WAP11? This truly is sickening.
Have BEFW11S4 and found that wireless VPN problem exists regardless of client / PCM wireless card etc. Affirm a Linksys firmware problem. Most say step back release on firmware.waiting on Linksys for a while longer for a firmware fix.I have Linksys firmware 1.42.7.use both Cisco and HP wireless PCM and testing with Cisco VPN client. Can force tunnel to connect.but only outbound traffic from wireless into tunnel.no return by using my eth sniff tools. If someone knows a fix other than downgrade on firmware.happy to test possible fix. Said by:Affirm a Linksys firmware problem.
Most say step back release on firmware.waiting on Linksys for a while longer for a firmware fix.I have Linksys firmware 1.42.7.Stepping back will not help. Only solution for BEFW11S4 is to step UP to firmware 1.43.

I have confirmed this twice now, with 2 different BEFW11S4's. VPN client will NOT work with 1.42.x, but as soon as you install 1.43, voila! I have confirmed this with Cisco 3.x client, and SonicWall (safeNet) clients. You are correct- they will complete Phase 1 negotiation, and then completely drop phase 2.Here's a log from a destination firewall, showing lack of response on Phase2: 15:58:08.848 - IKE Responder: Accepting IPSec proposal - Source:66.66.xx.xx - Destination:216.xxx.xxx.xxx -15:58:08.912 - IKE negotiation complete. Adding IPSec SA. Phase 2 Done - Source:216.xxx.xxx.xxx - Destination:66.66.xx.xx - lifeSeconds=28800 remote range: (192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.2) - 15:58:08.912 - IKE Responder: Begin Phase 2 - -Unfortunately, this is all well and good for the BEFW11S4 users, but doesn't solve anything for WAP11 users.
IPSeC Passthrough doesn't have anything to do with this. I have encountered this before.A Linksys Tech told me that the reason for that is the At&t Net Client has a conflict w/ the wireless config utility of the wpc11( and Vice versa). What we did was we removed the wireless config utility on start up. And BOOM.But if you want to configure the wireless card you must stop first the AT&t Net Client from running. If not, you will be experiencing same problem.Hope this helps!

Please explain how the wpc11 utility is a factor here as it's not even involved.
I suspect your have some bad information. Hope this is not way off. I am not familiar with the AT&T VPN - however this seems like a 'software token VPN' -thus authenticated on the network. I DO use Nortel Extranet VPN - both hardware and software authentication (both separately depending on the individual) - however there is a selection when connecting with the software version that has a dropdown that lets you tell the VPN host whether or not you are connected to the actual domain or if you are on the preferred network (company remote network. AT&T Roadrunner Bell or whatever) or whether you are on neither.
Like I said, I hope this is not way off and I truly do not want to insult your intelligence, but I know unless I select NEITHER from my cable access at home I can still connect via wired but not from the wireless laptops I configure on a regular basis. The symptoms just seem to close to what I see a lot. I'm really not trying to throw more variables into the equation - but it was just a thought at this late hour. All of the Hardware tokens work perfectly, no matter what.
If this is not helpful or even remotely close to the problem - please have the moderator of this forum remove this post. I hope someone else can shed more light on the different levels of VPN authentication.Max.
